How it works for gold, bullion and coin dealers
Customers want to buy gold with crypto, and a dealer who accepts it stands out. We set up your shop so you receive US dollars on every sale. Your rates and fees are set by the processor, and we will walk you through every step, from the application to your first live sale and staff training.
Coin and bullion sales can be large, and prices move during the day. BitPay locks the exchange rate on each invoice and settles US dollars to your bank the next business day, so you aren't holding crypto while metal prices change (BitPay). BitPay supports more than 100 cryptocurrencies, including stablecoins such as USDC.
BitPay accounts start at Tier 2, with limits of $10,000 per day and $500,000 per year. Tier 3 raises that to $100,000 per day and $5 million per year, and needs three months of business bank statements or a bank letter (BitPay compliance). If your typical sale is larger, we help you apply for the higher tier before your first big crypto order.
One honest caveat: most of what a gold buyer does is pay customers, not collect from them. Paying sellers in crypto is a separate BitPay product with its own pricing, which we haven't verified yet. Accepting crypto helps on the sell side, when customers buy coins and bars from you. Related: jewelers, pawn shops and our small-business crypto guide.

FAQ
Can I pay customers who sell me gold in crypto?
That uses BitPay Payouts, a separate product. We haven't verified its pricing, so ask us and we'll check with BitPay for your situation.
What are BitPay's daily limits?
New accounts start at $10,000 per day and $500,000 per year (Tier 2). Tier 3 allows $100,000 per day and needs bank statements or a bank letter.
Where can customers buy gold with crypto from a dealer?
At dealers that accept crypto through a processor like BitPay. We set up local coin and bullion dealers so customers can buy gold with crypto while the dealer receives US dollars.
Do I have to hold crypto?
No. Payments settle in US dollars, and we never touch your funds.
Will this save me money versus cards?
Not necessarily. Crypto processor fees can be similar to card rates. We compare against your own statement and don't promise savings.
