How it works for contractors and home services
Want to accept crypto as a contractor? We set up invoices you can send from the job site, and you get paid in US dollars. Your rates and fees are set by the processor, and we will walk you through every step, from the application to your first live sale and staff training.
Jobs that run $5,000 or more route to BitPay. Its checkout now runs as Quick Checkout for Web in a browser, so you can create an invoice on a phone or tablet at the job site (BitPay support). The exchange rate is locked when the invoice is created, and US dollars land in your bank the next business day (BitPay).
New BitPay accounts are limited to $10,000 per day and $500,000 per year. If you take larger deposits, we help you apply for Tier 3 ($100,000 per day), which needs three months of bank statements or a bank letter (BitPay compliance). Customers paying over $3,000 complete a one-time BitPay ID check.
Smaller service calls run on the same BitPay setup. For change orders and cancellations, refunds go through the processor dashboard. Tax note: crypto received for services is income at its US-dollar fair market value when received (IRS). See our guide and furniture and appliance stores.
Your processor and device

Your device: SUNMI V3
- One standard countertop terminal: SUNMI V3 (GMS) running BitPay Quick Checkout
- Dealer kits add a Samsung Galaxy tablet as a second customer-facing screen
- Already have a compatible device? Use your own at the same kit price
Your processor: BitPay
- 2% + $0.25 per transaction under $500K/month (BitPay pricing)
- US dollars to your bank the next business day, locked exchange rates, and no chargebacks as a BitPay feature (BitPay)
- One BitPay merchant account in your business name
Processor fees are set by BitPay and can change. Crypto fees are not always lower than card fees, so we compare against your own statement rate. Processors approve or decline merchants, not us.

FAQ
Can I invoice a customer for a deposit before the job starts?
Yes. Create a BitPay invoice for the deposit amount from a phone or tablet. The rate locks when the invoice is created.
How is crypto taxed for my business?
The IRS treats crypto received for services as income at its fair market value in US dollars when received. Check with your CPA.
Can a contractor accept crypto for a remodel?
Yes. A contractor can send a BitPay invoice from a phone or tablet and receive US dollars the next business day.
Do I have to hold crypto?
No. Payments settle in US dollars, and we never touch your funds.
Will this save me money versus cards?
Not necessarily. Crypto processor fees can be similar to card rates. We compare against your own statement and don't promise savings.
